Use these instructions for the selected account when it offers the feature and controls described below.
A manual backup records the wallet’s secret phrase. Anyone who obtains that phrase can control the wallet, according to the safety screens.
Before you start
Use a private place and have a secure way to record the words in their original order. Never let anyone else see the phrase.
Steps
- Open the intended wallet’s Settings and choose Backup manually.
- Complete app authentication when requested. Read the For your eyes only safety advice.
- Read and complete the acknowledgements: Buburuza does not have access to the key, and the phrase should be written on paper and stored securely instead of saved digitally. Choose Continue.
- Record the numbered secret words in their original order in a private place. Do not share them or include them in support messages.
- Choose Continue to open Confirm secret phrase. For each requested position, choose the matching word from your written backup.
- Choose Continue. If Not correct / Your selections don’t match appears, choose Try again and compare the requested positions with the backup.
- Return to Settings and check the manual-backup status.
What to expect
After the phrase-position check, return to wallet Settings and inspect the manual-backup status. Keep the written phrase private; the quiz is not a full restoration test.
If something does not work
- The confirmation asks for selected word positions; it does not ask you to send the full phrase to support.
- If the word check reports an incorrect answer, choose Try again and verify the requested word positions against your backup.
- Record every word shown for your own wallet in the original order. Confirm the exact positions requested by that wallet’s backup check.
- An incorrect app passcode has a separate remaining-attempt warning. Do not confuse it with the phrase-confirmation quiz.
